Deep Space Keyset
Deep Space is a keyset that was initially designed and ran as a group buy back in 2016 with Signature Plastics. I’m a believer in inclusivity so since it’s inception, Deep Space has been run in DSA profile, GMK Cherry profile and the new DCX profile from Drop.
Initial Concept
The idea was to design a set using a nice warm purple and a complimenting blue. In order to make a colorful set that isn't too bright or difficult to look at, I stuck with all cool tones and kept the colors keyed so that there would not be a lot of contrast. The end result is a color way where there is a lot of saturation and vibrancy without the pulsating effect you sometimes get when combing high-contrast colors. I wanted it to look dark at a glance, but the more you focus the more you can see! Much like the night sky.
The keyset is double-shot ABS plastic in a uniform DSA profile and fits variations of Cherry MX stems.
For the novelties and kits I went with two main color options: Orion - featuring purple with blue legends, and Polaris - which is blue with purple legends. There is a custom designed novelty kit as well which utilizes the Planets in our solar system to go in place of the number row with a sun replacing tilde/escape key. I also created extra space themed keys to finish out the top row. For an accent key, the little astronaut makes an appearance in key form!
