Initial Concept

Initial Concept

Everything begins with an idea! I had the idea to design a set using a nice warm purple and a complimenting blue. In order to make a colorful set that isn't too bright or difficult too look at, I stuck with all cool tones and kept the colors keyed so that there would not be a lot of contrast. The end result is a color way where there is a lot of saturation and vibrancy without the pulsating effect you sometimes get when combing high-contrast colors.
The keyset is double-shot ABS plastic in a uniform DSA profile and fits variations of Cherry MX stems.

Custom Legends

Custom Legends

I designed a set of custom keys that followed with a space theme and worked well with the color pallet I had in mind. I went with two main color options: Orion - featuring purple with blue legend, and Polaris - which is blue with purple legends. I then designed a kit which utilizes the Planets in our solar system to go in place of the number row with a sun replacing tilde/escape key. I also created extra space themed keys to finish out the top row. For an accent key, I designed an astronaut to match the theme and add a bit of a playful, human element.

Ultimate Compatibility

Ultimate Compatibility

Deep Space was created with several possible variations and the ability to select the purple (Orion) or blue (Polaris) colors to suit your personal tastes. There is also compatibility kits for Ergodox, ISO, Planck, JD40 and various other layouts. The uniform DSA profile allows for optimal customization with the ability to move the caps wherever you want!

The final keyset was produced by Signature Plastics and some sets are currently available on their web store.
